Character: Bolin
Series: Legend of Korra
Character Age: 16
Canon: With the death of Avatar Aang seventy years after the end Avatar: the Last Airbender , it is time for the new Avatar to master all four elements and make sure that peace and harmony remain in the world. That person is Korra, a girl from the Southern Water Tribe. In order for her to master the final element, airbending, she travels to Republic City to train. Once there, she becomes involved not only the new sport of pro-bending, but also a war conflict a figure named Amon and his Equalists, who aim to ignite tensions between benders and non-benders in order to eliminate the art of bending.
A founding member of the Fire Ferrets, the pro-bending team that Korra joins, Bolin is an earthbender and is one the first friends that Korra makes upon her arrival to Republic City. Having lost his parents at the age of six, Bolin grew up on the streets, well protected by his older brother and fellow Fire Ferret founding teammate, Mako. In spite of this background, Bolin is an easy going optimist who hardly ever seems to be in a bad mood. Shielded from the worst of life’s harsh realities by Mako, Bolin can be naïve and immature. He means well by actions, but sometimes just doesn’t realize how they come across. A friendly and outgoing guy, Bolin cares a lot about his friends and will do just about anything for them.
Note: Pabu is the name of Bolin’s pet fire ferret that he’s trained to do tricks and animals are typically hybrids (like turtle-ducks).

So before you start, I just wanna say that I totally get where you’re coming from. You want people to take you more seriously, but you don’t know where to start. And that’s where I come in, right? Right! Now don’t get me wrong or anything, but a swamp’s reallllly not the best spot for what you have in mind. It works for now, but maybe you should think about changing locations sometime in the future. I don’t know, maybe some kind of field, one with lots of space and a wide open blue sky and a ground where your foot doesn’t sink in a six inches with every step you take. You know, the basics.
But overall, not a bad set-up you have going on here. I see you have a tent and everything set up already, though do you really need it to be that big? I know I know, every circus needs a big tent, but yours looks like it could cover an entire lake and then some! … Oh, your circus act lives in the lake. Alright, I can work with that, might be a little hard. Not to worry though! You’re looking at Bolin, the number one circus trainer in Republic City. If I can train Pabu, then I can definitely train your uhh... what did you call it again? A whaletopus? Can’t say I ever heard of it before, but how different can it be from Pabu. Soooo, I think it’s time for me to meet the little guy, Marcy right?
… Whoa, so that is definitely not a little guy. Noooot what I was expecting at all. And all those tentacles are kind of a shock too. Is that really what a whaletopus is supposed to look like? I’ll take your word for it, but I can definitely see why it has a problem when it comes to personal space. You might want to get that taken care of. By someone else. That is not me.
--Alright alright, I said that I’ll help, and I’m a man of my word, so now all we have to do is just figure out some sort of tricks that would work. With all those tentacles. ...Oh I know, some sort of juggling act would be perfect! Yeah, one with all sorts of things flying around in the air and everything. Okay I got it, here’s how it starts, the tent starts off pitch dark, then fire starts flying around like out of nowhere. Then once the crowd reaches a fever pitch, you bring ‘em out the dark by letting them see clear as crystal that Marcy here was the one that was juggling all that flaming stuff. So, what do you think?
… See? If there’s a fire already starting in its heart, then that makes this whole thing perfect!
